Description
Roots help us anchor, ground, and center. Roots are more than just a balancing technique; they connect us to our origins and where we come from. Our roots are a fundamental part of our psyche.
Cultural and Personal Roots
Where we come from and our cultural background influence our behavior, feelings, and ways of being in the body and in life. If we don’t have that connection, we might experience a general feeling of not belonging, feeling lost, existential uncertainty, lack of connection, having difficulty committing, or moving on too quickly.
The Role of Our Mother
The figure that teaches us about roots in our first year of life is our mother. She teaches us what it feels like to be in the body, how our needs will be taken care of, and where we belong. If we felt disconnected from our mother, we might have a sense that there is always something missing in our life or that we can’t move ideas into actions and ultimately into manifestations.
Soul’s Roots
But roots go even deeper than that. Our roots also come from our soul. The soul’s roots are like a driving force in our life. They connect us to our purpose in this life and to why we came here. Our roots guide us into experiences and maybe even challenges that we need in order to fulfill our soul’s purpose.
In this class, we will explore all levels of roots and how they influence our current life situation through movement. By connecting with our roots, we aim to enhance our sense of belonging, stability, and purpose, both in our bodies and in our lives.
