Energy in Motion – Body and Emotions

March 15 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CET

DKK130
The definition of emotion describes it as “energy in motion.” We experience emotions in our bodies.
Through  emotions, we receive information about our surroundings.

The Body’s Role in Emotional Experience

For example we experience joy as lightness and warmth, sadness as heaviness in our chest and throat, and anger as tension and heat. Emotions are like waves in the endless sea of our consciousness, they come and go.
If a certain emotion is overwhelming or disintegrating, our biology is very smart in terms of creating defense mechanisms, such as splitting, closing down or over-energizing certain body parts.
For example, if we have experienced trauma, our body might seem as disintegrated body parts. If we feel threatened by outside reality, we might hold energy in the upper part of the body. If we feel defeated, our pelvis might be retreating. Our emotions then turn into patterns and  conditions in our bodies.

Seeking Balance and Homeostasis

Regardless of the situation and how our body communicated with the energy of the experience, one thing is certain: all energy seeks homeostasis, balance, and completion. For instance, we unconsciously find ourselves drawn to similar experiences that have caused us pain in the past in order to heal.
In this class, we will explore the communication of energy inside us and observe how our body and soul can find completion and resolution. We will open the doors for healing and welcome new energy that is there to serve, support, and provide for us. The energy we feel in our body and in our expanded reality is ours. It is up to us to own it and claim it with joy and presence.

What is a movement class?

The body-oriented and mindfulness-centered approach lies in two principles: the body and the psyche are inseparable, and the second is that healing exists within us.
The purpose of movement practices is to be fully present in the body. Life starts feeling easier as we learn to live “in the body” rather than outside.
By consciously moving the body, we increase awareness and allow the flow of energy to open. With regular practice, we open the door to authentic expression and start living as we are at the core of our being.
Movement practices stem from the origins of body-centered psychotherapy and have developed throughout the years. We use structured movement and breathing exercises focusing on emotional regulation and expression. We use conscious dance, storytelling, meditation, and guided fantasies. We also use authentic movement, which means that we allow our body’s wisdom to find a spontaneous way of reaching balance and expression
